Baños (1,800 m), is located only 3 hours south of Quito at the base of Tungurahua Volcano between the natural parks: Sangay y Llanganates. Baños have varied tourist resources: thermal waters, Impressive cascades, and a biodiversity that is admired by the tourists. Baños are a place of rest, it is a natural paradise in a sub-tropicalvalley with 13,000 inhabitants, Baños offers a pasive atmosphere.

It points out historical: in beginnings of the years 1500 the Inca Emperor Huayna Capac frequented this beautiful valley. The Inca's took a bath in the thermal waters for their therapeutic properties.

In 1596 the Virgin of the Water Santa appeared in Baños and this is consideredas a miracle, and she is admired by thousands of faithful.

In the year of 1999, the inhabitants of Baños received a terrible newsthat was to abandon their earth, for the eruption of the volcano Tungurahua;They were evacuated to different parts and this went a hard blow to the localeconomy. However their Inhabitants returned to their homes to reactivate theireconomy, The Tourism.
